AIA offers professional accountants two routes to direct membership.

Route 1 – EU Mutual Recognition of Qualifications

Route 1 applies to those who have the right to practice in the United Kingdom under Regulation 5 of the European Communities (Recognition of Professional Qualifications) Directive.

AIA are also recognised under the EC Audit Directive, which recognises professional qualifications for auditors as defined by the Companies Act 2006.

Route 2 – Membership of an IFAC Member Body*

Route 2 is open to applicants from all sectors of the profession who are members of an IFAC member body* and who can demonstrate records of achievement in accountancy.

* Full membership only, not applicable to Associate or Affiliate member bodies.
