Always an innovative and dynamic organisation, AIA was the original global accountancy body and following our establishment in 1928, expanded across the world with British trade. In the early twentieth century, the AIA was the only international accountancy body; founded with the aim of providing a professional qualification that would encompass accountants all over the world, from all backgrounds and all countries, both developing and developed. The AIA aimed to offer an organisation that would work on both a national and international scale, which would secure a definite and recognised professional status for accountants. AIA remains committed to this concept and works with academic and professional partners across the globe to share knowledge and expertise in accountancy education; this programme of academic transference is a two-way process.
