If you are considering a volunteering assignment overseas or in the UK and would like to find out more about the role of the volunteer, Accounting for International Development charity partners and the many other stakeholders within the International Development sector, you are very welcome to attend one of the monthly Volunteer Workshops.
Each workshop is delivered by John Cammack, a very experienced independent consultant in the non profit sector. John is a qualified accountant, manager and teacher. He holds an MSc in International Development Management, and an MBA. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). John has been involved with international development work for over 20 years, previously as Head of International Finance at Oxfam GB and then Senior Lecturer in Accounting & Financial Management at Oxford Brookes University.
The workshop runs from 9.30am - 5.00pm. It's a great way to learn about development, the role of volunteers & charity partners, meet with like-minded people and allay your volunteer fears. The day is very relaxed with only 15 - 20 volunteers in attendance. It is carefully designed to prepare each volunteer for the challenges and environments they are likely to encounter, mixing real case studies and volunteer feedback with John's wealth of experience in the international development field.
The cost for the workshop is £145.00. Please note that £100 will be deemed as the first instalment of the Placement Fee for those attendees that later accept an assignment. This will be the first instalment of the Placement Fee for attendees that later accept an overseas volunteering assignment with A f I D. Please note that due to the limited number of places available on each workshop advanced booking is necessary.
