HONG KONG CHIEF EXECUTIVE TO COOPERATE WITH GOVERNMENT REVAMP
Chief Executive Donald Tsang says he will work with Chief Executive-elect CY Leung to facilitate a proposed reorganisation of the government structure.
Speaking to the media today, Mr Tsang said he respects Mr Leung's suggested restructuring.
The current Administration will work through the necessary procedures. This includes forwarding the proposal to the Central People's Government for consideration, tabling the proposals to the Executive and Legislative Councils, amending relevant legislation, and applying for funding approval from LegCo for additional posts, Mr Tsang said.
He said the procedure is complicated but he is confident it will win support from LegCo, the media and the public. He aims to finish the preparatory work before the next term begins on July 1.
Mr Tsang reiterated he has been communicating with Mr Leung at least once a week and both want to ensure a smooth transition of administration.
Reacting to last night's Legislative Council vote of no confidence in him, Mr Tsang said he would listen and work hard for the remaining term of office.
