The Association of International Accountants (AIA), the global body for professional accountants is proud to provide its support as an enterprise advisor for New Bridge Academy, Hylton Castle, Sunderland.
AIA’s Head of Development, Sharon Gorman will be undertaking the role of enterprise advisor; representing the AIA and working with North East Local Enterprise Partnership (NELEP) in supporting New Bridge Academy to help bring the link between the school and employers closer and to ensure that the young people, at the school, are given every opportunity to learn about the type of careers that are available to them.
Careers guidance is an essential part of the schools programme and in December 2017 the Careers Strategy was introduced providing statutory guidance for schools, setting out plans for building a high-quality careers system that will help young people identify career opportunities that are right for them. This process has allowed schools the opportunity to come into line with the benchmarks set out in the Gatsby Good Career Guide.
Sharon Gorman, commented: “It is a great privilege for the AIA to be working with New Bridge Academy to help support students on their journey into the workplace.
“We have established a number of areas in which we feel the school requires assistance, and I am now working closely with the NELEP and New Bridge Academy to encourage potential future employers to provide assistance.
“At the moment we are focused on encouraging employers to talk with the students about specific job roles, the possibility of offering work experience and the possibility of offering apprenticeship scheme opportunitites.”
