With less than two months to go, are you Making Tax Digital (MTD) ready? If not, AIA would urge members to attend the upcoming ‘Making Tax Digital’ webinar on 18 March as Amanda Swales, Director of GoSimple Software covers all the facts and figures, digital software and new processes members will need to undertake in order to make sure their clients are MTD ready by 1 April 2019.
This webinar follows the hugely successful AIA ‘Making Tax Digital’ Seminar which Amanda Swales presented in Bromley, London earlier this week.
Making Tax Digital for VAT comes into force on 1 April 2019 for all businesses in the UK with a turnover above the VAT threshold of £85,000. It is the first step in the HMRC’s ambitious plans to become one of the most digitally advanced tax administrations in the world.
Commenting during the seminar, Amanda Swales, Director at GoSimple Software, said: “I cannot emphasise enough the importance for AIA members to fully understand the MTD process in order to be ready for the digital changes ahead.
“The future of finance is digital, so it is important that AIA members feel confident of their next steps and what process to follow in order to be MTD ready.”
During the seminar, Amanda provided members with information on:
- Facts and figures – who is mandated and who is not
- Turning off the VAT Portal
- Making sure clients are ready
- Digital bookkeeping software
Sharon Gorman, AIA Director of Development, reiterated her comments from December 2018: “Instead of thinking about MTD as another ‘hoop’ to jump through, I would urge our members to approach the MTD process as a positive opportunity to review and improve processes in order to ensure compliance.
“As an association we are here to help and guide our members, so please utilise the resources available from the AIA website and through our strategic partner GoSimple Software.”
