The Association of International Accountants (AIA) were a supporting partner and exhibitor at the first ever Accountex Summit North which took place on the 06 March at Manchester Central.

Over 1,000 attendees from across the accounting and finance sector packed the Manchester Central venue for the one day conference and exhibition which focused on the latest developments and issues facing today’s accountancy professional.

There was a wide variety of presentations throughout the day, beginning with the keynote speech from Declan Curry which focused on ‘Challenges and Changes – What Will Make the Biggest Impact’.

Other highlights from the presentations came from John Cameron at Sage who discussed ‘The Second Wave of Cloud Adoption’, which explained how becoming a digital practice can help unlock the potential of your practice and your clients. In addition there was a thought provoking hot topic session on ‘Women in Accountancy’, which raised questions such as is accountancy still a male dominated profession?

The summit proved a great success for the AIA, partnering alongside businesses such as Tolley, ICB, ACCA, ICAEW and CIMA to name only a small selection.

Following the event, Sharon Gorman, AIA Head of Development, commented: “Congratulations to the Accountex Summit North team for organising such a valuable, informative and worthwhile event. It was great to meet and discuss current hot topics with members, partners and industry professionals.

“We look forward to continuing our close working relationship with the Accountex team, and look forward to Accountex Summit North returning to Manchester Central on 10 September next year.”
