AIA is delighted to announce the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Xero to partake in its Equivalency Certification programme to provide budding accountants and bookkeepers in the UK with the online accounting skills required to succeed in the digital age.
Research shows that 83% of practitioners believe that understanding technology is now as important to their job as understanding the practice of accountancy. But 35% do not think there is currently enough training to ensure that UK advisors can keep up with the pace of digital change and upcoming legislation, such as HMRC’s Making Tax Digital.
AIA Director of Development, Sharon Gorman commented: “With Making Tax Digital having gone live on 1 April 2019, the shift towards technology-based practices has made a quantum leap. This, along with a thirst for knowledge, has boosted the demand for skills gained with Xero – such as the equivalency certification programme which we are now able to offer AIA members.”
The Equivalency Certification provides a solid grounding in cloud accounting. Previously only available to Xero’s accounting and bookkeeping partners, it has now been updated to suit the requirements of any industry professional and is available to AIA members. The course consists of:
- A pack of e-learning courses: an eight hour, wide ranging introduction to cloud technology.
- Cloud fundamentals: covers issues such as banking and projects, and the benefits of cloud software.
- Introduction to Xero technology: learn how to set up and run Xero on a day-to-day basis, use the dashboard and create reports.
Mike Day, Head of Learning Propositions at Xero, added: "Xero is delighted to partner with AIA to offer Xero Certification to its members. Understanding of Cloud technology has evolved from a nice-to-have to a must-have. There is no better way to add to relevant digital skills and employability."
