The Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) president Mohammad Faiz Azmi’s two year term has ended as of the 26 July 2017. He will be succeeded by Salihin Abang, member of the council of AMCAF, as the new MIA President from the 24 August 2017. 

AMCAF is an independent association registered under Societies Acts 1966 whose members are firms of chartered accountants and individuals registered with Malaysia Institute of Accountants. 

In a statement released by the MIA Mohammad Faiz Azmi was quoted as saying ‘During my tenure as President, MIA has made significant changes to address the recommendations of the Committee for the Strengthening of the Accounting Profession (CSAP) as well as preparing for the future of the profession.’

MIA was established under the Accountants Act 1967 as the statutory accountancy body that regulates, develops, supports and enhances the integrity and status of the accountancy profession in Malaysia. 

Salihin Abang, the incoming MIA president, is the founder and managing partner of Salihi, has sat on the MIA council since 19 September 2015 and will take up his post as MIA President on 24th August 2017. He is an active member of the AMCAF, MIA, The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.
