AIA is pleased to sponsor the Innovation in Accountancy Award at the PQ Magazine Awards 2024, celebrating accounting professionals and firms harnessing technologies such as AI, revolutionising their practices through enhanced efficiency, accuracy, and value.

The award underlines the transformative power of technology in the accounting sector. It's not just about streamlining processes, but about empowering accountants to offer strategic insights and take a proactive stance in navigating challenges and opportunities. This shift towards a more technologically savvy profession is crucial for the future of accounting.

Philip Turnbull, AIA Chief Executive, said, "In today's fast-paced world, embracing technology is not optional; it's essential for staying relevant and competitive. The Innovation in Accountancy Award is a celebration of progress and a call to action for all in the profession to leverage the power of AI and other advancements to redefine our value to the business world."

In the latest edition of International Accountant, AlphaPlus Assessment Managers, Priya Dutta and Gemma O’Brien provided a deep dive into how AI and technology are revolutionising accountancy, moving it beyond traditional roles to become a pivotal part of strategic business decision-making. Their insights are a testament to the evolving role of accountants, inspired by the possibilities that technology brings to the profession.

The Innovation in Accountancy Award shortlist showcases the remarkable endeavours of the four nominees; Creative Accounting, a joint effort among academics from Queen Mary University London, Coventry University, and Monash University, Australia; the First Intuition Accountancy Academy; the Icarus accounting simulation App, crafted by UCL and Lynsie Chew; and Nottingham College’s AAT delivery. These innovations embody the forward-thinking spirit needed to drive the evolution of the accounting profession, and we wish them all good luck at the PQ Awards later this month.
