AIA appreciates that many members wish to develop their academic qualifications and has collaborated with a number of universities to create a number of opportunities for you to do so.
As graduate status is not a prerequisite to registration with AIA, we are aware that you may be keen to enhance your professional skills with a university degree. AIA has co-operated with a number of universities to agree pathways into accountancy degree programmes.
BA (HONS) ACCOUNTING & FINANCE AND BA (HONS) ACCOUNTANCY
If you have completed Papers 1-6 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 you are eligible for entry onto the first year of the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance and BA (Hons) Accountancy degree programmes at Birmingham City University. Those who have completed Papers 1-12 AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 of the AIA exams are eligible for exemption from the first year of the degrees.
BA (HONS) ACCOUNTING
Students who have successfully passed papers 1-12 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 are eligible for exemptions from the first two years of the BA (Hons) Accounting degree.
MSC ACCOUNTING & FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Students who have successfully passed papers 1-12 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 and can demonstrate at least two years post A2 equivalent level study at degree level (and have IELTS 6.5 or equivalent) are eligible to apply for the MSc in Accounting and Financial Management.
If you have successfully passed AIA exam papers 1-16 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021, and possess three years’ work experience, you are eligible to apply for the Master’s stage of this course.
BA (HONS) ACCOUNTING & FINANCE
Students who have successfully passed AIA exam papers 1-12 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 are eligible for exemption from the first two years of the BA (Hons) Accounting & Finance degree.
Students who have completed AIA exam papers 1-6 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 are able to gain entry onto the second year of the degree programme.
STUDY
You will be required to attend the university to complete the final year of the degree programme. The university is able to assist you in applying for a UK visa if required. If you reside in Hong Kong, this course can be completed at ABRS Professional Learning Services in Wanchai.
BA (HONS) ACCOUNTING & FINANCE
Students who have successfully passed AIA exam papers 1-6 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 are eligible for entry onto Level 1 of the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree programme.
Students who have successfully passed AIA exam papers 1-12 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 are eligible for entry onto Level 2 of the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree.
Students who have successfully passed AIA exam papers 1-16 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 are eligible for entry onto Level 3 of the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree.
BA (HONS) ACCOUNTING & FINANCE, BA (HONS) ACCOUNTANCY AND BA (HONS) INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTANCY
Students who have successfully passed papers 1-12 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 will be eligible for exemption from the first two years of the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance or BA (Hons) Accountancy degree programmes.
Students who have successfully passed papers 1-9 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 are eligible for entry on to the BA (Hons) International Accountancy (Top up) degree.
The programmes enable you to acquire a thorough grasp of accountancy skills and an understanding of major conceptual issues, including an awareness of the relationship between accountancy and the environment in which it functions.
BA (HONS) INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTING
Students who have successfully passed papers 1-8 and Paper 11 Financial Accounting 2 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 are eligible for direct entry onto the final year of the BA (Hons) International Accounting. Students can then progress to master level studies.
BA (HONS) ACCOUNTING & FINANCE AND BA (HONS) ACCOUNTING
Students who have successfully passed papers 1-12 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 are eligible for exemption from the first two years of Northumbria University's BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree.
In addition, students who have successfully passed papers 1-6 of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 are eligible for exemption from the first year of the BA (Hons) Accounting degree.
BA (HONS) ACCOUNTING & FINANCE
Students who have successfully passed papers of the AIA Professional Qualification before November 2021 are eligible for entry onto the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree as follows:
Entry into Stage 4 of the degree is not available.
MSC ACCOUNTING & FINANCE
AIA members who have achieved the required three years' work experience are eligible for enrolment on the MSc Accounting and Finance Programme.
BSC (HONS) ACCOUNTANCY & FINANCE (TOP UP)
Students who have successfully passed AIA exam papers 1-6 (Level 5 Certificate in Accountancy) are eligible to apply for the Southampton Solent University's BSc (Hons) Accountancy and Finance (Top up) degree.

MSC IN INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTING & FINANCE
Students who have successfully passed AIA exam papers 1-12 (Level 6 Diploma in Accountancy) are eligible to apply for the MSc International Accounting and Finance programme.
MSC ACCOUNTING & FINANCE
Graduates who have successfully passed all 16 AIA exam papers are eligible for entry on to the MSc Accounting and Finance programme.
Students whose first language is not English will also be required to hold an IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.
The programme enables you to acquire a thorough grasp of accountancy skills and an understanding of major conceptual issues, including an awareness of the relationship between accountancy and the environment in which it functions.
As the demand for managerial skills and knowledge has increased, so too has the number of institutions offering the Master of Business Administration (MBA). The MBA is a vocational qualification, tailored to specific business needs or to a particular business sector and the flexibility of the course is mirrored in the choice of study options available to students.
The AIA professional accountancy qualification is accepted as equivalent to a first degree for entry purposes onto an ever increasing number of full and part-time MBA programmes, both in the UK and overseas. The AIA qualification is currently accepted* by the following universities:

ASSOCIATION OF CORPORATE TREASURERS (ACT)
Qualified AIA members can benefit from exemptions on the ACT qualifications pathway and discounted rates on training. The Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT) is the chartered membership body for treasurers.
