Introduction to Inheritance Tax

A webinar to give you a basic understanding of the key aspects which individuals will consider in relation to their wealth, and also when thinking about their wider estate and succession planning.

This training will be an introduction to the UK Inheritance Tax regime. We will cover basic principles including: taxation of the death estate; considerations for lifetime transfers; Potentially Exempt Transfers; and calculating taper relief. There will also be discussion on some key reliefs available to individuals, specifically Business Property Relief and Agricultural Property Relief. 

We will also touch on the Inheritance Tax position for non-UK domiciled individuals, including an overview of the relevant property regime for trusts and other key considerations for these individuals.  

The aim of this training is to give you a basic understanding of the key aspects which individuals will consider in relation to their wealth, and also when thinking about their wider estate and succession planning.

Alison Hill

Alison Hill is a Tax Partner at PwC with more than 20 years of experience advising high net worth international families, their businesses and their trust structures. She advises in relation to clients arriving in the U.K., leaving the U.K., purchasing assets in the U.K., establishing wealth holding structures and succession planning.  She works closely with family offices providing UK tax advice and liaising with our international tax network to bring a global service where required.  

Alison also has extensive experience of working with institutions providing services to such individuals, helping them to ensure that the services they are providing are appropriate to their client's requirements from a UK tax perspective.

Elsa Cameron is a Chartered Tax Advisor, working closely alongside a broad range of high-net-worth clients, their families and their holding vehicles (both in the UK and overseas) to help them understand their tax position and obligations.
