Gerard is a Chartered Accountant with a career spanning both practice and academia. In his early years, he worked across small and large accounting firms, including time with a Big 4 practice. The bulk of his professional life has been dedicated to higher education, where he served as Head of the Department of Accounting & Economics at a major university, a position from which he recently retired.
He continues to contribute as an examiner, marker and adviser for several leading accounting bodies. His specialist disciplines are auditing and assurance, finance and ethics.
