A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING THE DARK SIDE OF ACCOUNTANCY

For a second year running the Keyworth Centre, part of the London South Bank University (LSBU) Southwark Campus, played host to a sell-out delegation for the PQ Magazine and LSBU annual national accountancy conference.

The AIA sponsored event took place on 28 November, welcoming a blend of accountants, accounting students and individuals working in the accountancy profession, or connected with the sector to the London South Bank University Southwark Campus.

Graham Hambly, Editor of PQ Magazine and Event Organiser, commented: “We wanted this years event to showcase how accountants can use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and big data to become a force for good. A recent report said that by 2020 CFOs will spend around 90% of their time working on big data. As businesses start to embrace new technology, the role of a CFO will evolve drastically from a financial expert to a multi-disciplinary strategist.

“The message is clear to finance students and professionals alike, place yourself at the heart of this data revolution and you are likely to reap the rewards”.

In addition to key note speeches regarding money laundering and AI, speakers delved into the topic of what makes good governance, looking at how integrated reporting and UN sustainability goals are reshaping the profession.

Other prestigious event sponsors included: ACCA, ICAEW and ICB.
