SUSTAINABILITY EXPERT JOINS AIA COUNCIL

AIA is delighted to announce the appointment of leading sustainability expert Dr Peter Ellington, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Triple Bottom Line Accounting to its Council.

Peter brings a wealth of leadership and educational knowledge, alongside in-depth sustainability expertise which will support and further strengthen the board as AIA continue to grow and deliver on its sustainability objectives.

The accountancy profession has a huge part to play as companies look towards calculating carbon footprints and how to plan for net-zero. Sustainability accounting standards are being considered globally to bring the profession into line with each other.

Philip Turnbull, AIA Chief Executive, added: “AIA is firmly committed to educating it members in green finance, so it is with great pleasure we welcome Peter to our Council. 

“Peter’s sustainability related expertise will support and further strengthen AIA’s offering to members.”

Since achieving his doctorate in 2021 Peter has been focusing on how Accountancy and Accountants need to change to face the challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, responsible purchasing & supply and the related economic & social change.

We are currently looking for lay members to join the Council. Lay members are board members, who are not members of AIA, but individuals chosen to provide an independent element to the workings of our governance. Lay members are encouraged to bring their different professional experiences and capabilities to the board's deliberations.
