In the lead up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting (CHOGM), AIA Chief Executive was honoured to join notable dignitaries for an evening reception at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
The reception which took place on 21 March was hosted by The Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP, Secretary of State for Foreign & Commonwealth Affairs.
The reception is one of a number of events being held as a pre-cursor to the CHOGM on 16 – 20 April when leaders from all the member countries are expected to gather in London and Windsor. They will come together to reaffirm common values, address the shared global challenges we face and agree how to work to create a better future for all our citizens, particularly young people.
AIA Chief Executive, Philip Turnbull, commented “It is a pleasure to once again represent the AIA membership and share views on the role the commonwealth plays in trade and development.
“Whilst AIA have a long established link with the Commonwealth, this year’s events carry increased resonance as we not only celebrate our 90th anniversary, but we look to develop and strengthen links within India in order to meet our long-term strategic business objectives.”
Earlier in the day the AIA welcomed the launch of the ‘India and the Northern Powerhouse Report’ at the House of Commons in Westminster. The report highlighted the strong connections between the Republic of India and the United Kingdom, pointing towards future engagement and collaboration.
