SMPS AND THE SUSTAINABILITY AGENDA | EFAA AND AIA

In the latest International Accountants Issue Salvador Marín, President of the European Federation of Accountants and Auditors for SME’s, and Paul Thompson, European Federation of Accountants and Auditors for SME’s Director and Consultant, examine the emergence of the sustainability agenda and its implications for SMEs and SMPs.

In the lead article our experts discuss the need of SMP’s to build capacity and provision of high quality sustainable services as a matter of urgency.

In the coming years, reporting and assurance of sustainability will grow exponentially in its incidence and sophistication. This is especially the case in the EU and jurisdictions heavily influenced by EU Regulation, such as UK.

Philip Turnbull, AIA Chief Executive, said: “AIA is a member of the EFAA and we are actively supporting their drive for sustainability.

We both want to aid EFRAG in developing sustainability reporting standards that are proportional for SMEs, embracing the principles of ‘Think Small First’ and ‘Smart Regulation’ aiding SMPs to play their part.”
